DRY EYE TREATMENT

Because Dry Eye Syndrome (DES) & Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) are multi-factor conditions, one-size-fits-all treatments do not exist. Patients suffering from these conditions require a thorough professional eye exam to identify the root cause so that the right treatment can be prescribed. Achieving lasting relief typically involves a customized, multi-step strategy tailored to the individual's unique needs. Below are three standard treatment options utilized to manage Dry Eye Syndrome and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction.
ENVISION TREATMENT
Envision is the new in-office standard revolutionizing procedures in delicate areas. This groundbreaking, nonsurgical device, deploys multiple programmable modalities which worksynergistically to deliver precision treatments:

•Forma-I: bipolar radiofrequency (RF)
•Lumecca-I: intense pulsed light (IPL)

Envision's small-size applicators and precise depth control allow for safe and highly efficaciousprocedures in the small, more delicate subdermal layers of the periorbital region. With Envision, practitioners deliver non-drug therapies to improve patient quality of life.
WHAT IS FORMA-I?
This is an innovative nonsurgical procedure that delivers bipolar radiofrequency (RF) technology to smaller, more delicate subdermal layers. Designed with unprecedented safety, the small size applicator, precision RF depth control, and intelligent temperature monitoring, ensure a safe and non-drug alternative.

HOW DOES FORMA-I WORK?
Forma-I feels like a warm massage in the eye area, improving blood circulation. The small size applicator and precision RF depth control allow for treatment in small and delicate areas

WHAT IS LUMECCA-I?
Lumecca-I is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. After just one use, patients notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of the skin. Lumecca operates using photothermolysis, which provides a photo facial through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment. IPL had been FDA approved for more than 15 years to remove superficial skin lesions.

HOW DOES LUMECCA-I WORK?
Lumecca-I creates tissue heating which helps to reduce inflammation. During treatment, there will be a bright flash of light and a sensation on your skin that feels like a light snap from an elastic band. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour. Patients who have age spots, sun damage, vessels and rosacea can expect superior clearance in 1-3 treatments versus 4-6 compared to the standard IPL.
LUBRICANTS

Lubricants for dry eye are available in the form of eye drops and come in over-the-counter as well as prescription strength. Over-the-counter varieties contain lubricants and electrolytes designed to provide immediate relief for transitory Dry Eye Syndrome caused by weather or allergies or extended computer/screen use. Prescription options contain ingredients that treat chronic conditions. This type of treatment typically doesn't help when it comes to Meibomian Gland Dysfunction.
SUPPLEMENTS

The most effective nutritional supplements for dry eye syndrome contain omega-3 fatty acids. These have anti-inflammatory properties. Think of dry eye supplements as internal nutrition for your eye's oil factories. Instead of just putting a temporary band-aid on the outside, we use specific dietary supplements to change the actual chemistry of your tears from the inside out.
The goal is simple: reduce inflammation in the eyelids and make your natural oils thinner and slicker, so they can flow freely onto your eyes.
